Warner Bros. has dropped the first look images for the upcoming House Party reboot coming to HBO Max.
The reboot stars Tosin Cole, Jacob Latimore, Karen Obilom, DC Young Fly and will be directed by music video director Calmatic who will also be heading up the White Men Can't Jump reboot. The screenplay was written by Jamal Olori and Stephen Glover.
The project is produced by LeBron James and Maverick Carter through The Spring Hill Company. Springhill’s Spencer Beighley and Jamal Henderson along with Reginald Hudlin, Warrington Hudlin and Gretel Twombly serve as executive producers.
The original House Party (1990), follows a high schooler (played by Christopher “Kid” Reid) sneaking out to his buddy’s (Christopher “Play” Martin) house party in what turns into a wild night of antics, music and plenty of fun. The film was a surprise box office hit for New Line in 1990 and is credited with helping catapult hip-hop into the mainstream. The film also launched the career of writer-director Reginald Hudlin as well as of Reid, Martin, Tisha Martin-Campbell, Martin Lawrence, A.J. Johnson, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell and Full Force (Paul Anthony, Bowlegged Lou and B-Fine).
