'THE LAST DRAGON' Celebrates 40 Years along side ‘YEAR OF THE RAT' in NYC Double Feature With Appearance From Taimak For Q&A and Meet and Greet

Director Cyrus Alexander, Hip-Hop Producer and Filmmaker, brings us together to pay homage to indie Black Cinema within the Martial arts genre and Wearecritix.com will be in attendance hosting the event!


On March 22nd, 2025, in New York City, The Black Martial Arts Cinema Double Feature: A Celebration of Two Generations of Black Martial Arts Films will host an unforgettable evening of martial arts cinema at the iconic Village East By Angelika, 181-189 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10003.


The Black Martial Arts Cinema Double Feature promises to captivate audiences with a celebration of two generations of Black martial arts films.


About the Event:


The evening begins with the premiere of Year of the Rat, the debut feature film from visionary director Cyrus Alexander. Starring underground rap sensation Noveliss, this highly anticipated film represents the evolution of Black martial arts storytelling for a new generation.


The night concludes with the 40th-anniversary screening of the legendary Berry Gordy’s The Last Dragon, directed by Michael Schultz. This beloved classic will be followed by an exclusive Q&A session with the film’s star, Taimak, hosted by our own Klep Napier of wearecritix.com, offering fans a rare opportunity to hear behind-the-scenes stories from one of the genre’s icons.
